Bright Eyes

As you might have been able to tell from the title of this post, I've been listening to a lot of Bright Eyes lately. I should probably be more specific. What does this mean, I hear you asking yourselves. Well, I've been listening to Bright Eyes in a more or less passive way since my freshman year of high school, just after Lifted was released. I've bought and listened to each successive album, and even Fevers and Mirrors, but the truth is that I haven't really had that huge- "Bright Eyes is the greatest thing to happen to recorded music since the phonograph"-phase. Until now.

Its a really funny thing when music hits you in a certain way, at a certain time, and it ends up being especially meaningful at a particular moment. I'm not really sure why Bright Eyes has caught my fancy right now, but regardless I have been listening to Bright Eyes pretty much non-stop for a solid month. I'm sure at some point I'll get burned out on it, but for now I just thought I would share a bit.

Lets Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and To Be Loved) - Bright Eyes

By the way, did you know that dogs have a taste in music? It's true, I swear.

WXPN World Cafe Best Music of 2008

So, with the below post in mind, I have found the first best of 2008 list:

WXPN World Cafe

1. Kings of Leon- Only by the Night
2. Vampire Weekend- Vampire Weekend
3. TV On The Radio- Dear Science
4. The Holy Steady- Stay Positive
5. Death Cab for Cutie- Narrow Stairs
6.Fleet Foxes- Fleet Foxes
7. The Felice Brothers- Felice Brothers
8. Thievery Corporation- Radio Retaliation
9. The Walkmen- You & Me
10. Raphael Saadiq- Way I See It

Best Albums. 2008 ed.

So, I have an idea. I'm going to be keeping track of the top ten lists of critics, magazine, some blogs, and those friends who take the time to make a list. Then, in the most cynical way possible, keep track of which albums recieve the higher placement in these lists and doll out points based on these placements (for example, if a critic rates Vampire Weekend's album at number 1, then Vampire Weekend recieves one point). So, in theory we should be able to say which album is definitively the best album of the year...sort of. Also, I will provide links to the pages where I'm finding these lists. So if you have a burning desire to check out the rationale behind their choices you can do so.

Check back for what I find...

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Well, I know I've been away for a while...but its Thanksgiving, so I thought I would share my favorite thanksgiving themed cartoon special starring a beagle that doesn't really look like a beagle...
